The 2024 Virginia Legislative session has started!

This session the Lights, Camera, Jobs Act has been introduced to increase the annual amount available for film and television tax credit in Virginia. Senate Bill 251 introduced by Senator Ghazala Hashmi and House Bill 771 introduced by Delegate Charniele Herring are the keys to bringing Virginia’s film and television incentive in line with the regional average. The Lights, Camera, Jobs Act is bipartisan legislation intended to take a new approach to make Virginia more economically competitive, retain the workforce, and create a long-term marketplace for success in the industry. We need your help to support this important legislation!

You can do two things to help:

  1. Mark your calendar! Please join us for the Film Industry Lobby Day on Monday, February 5 in Richmond, VA. If you are interested in joining please RSVP to ryan.hastings@sagaftra.org. Logistical details to follow.
  2. Reach out! Please email and call your Senators and Delegates to let them know that you support SB 251 and HB771. Make your correspondence personal: tell them who you are, that you are a constituent, what you do, and why the film industry is important to you and your livelihood. Reinforce the fact that this bill simply gets Virginia’s incentive in line with the average for states in the South and Mid-Atlantic. Be sure to thank them for their continued support of the film industry and ask that they help our industry grow in Virginia
