The ABCs of Audiobooks

SAG-AFTRA member Sean Pratt, a career coach for actors and audiobook narrators, presented Let Me Tell You a Story: An Introduction to the Audiobook Industry for Austin Actors Conservatory on Sunday, Feb. 20. Pratt gave inside advice on how working actors can expand their skillsets and career opportunities in the thriving audiobook market, where he has built a successful niche. Pratt shared his insights on the best internet resources for finding work, standards for making an audiobook narration demo reel and basic equipment needs for creating an at-home recording booth. SAG-AFTRA National Director for Organizing Steve Sidawi gave an overview of the union’s audiobook contracts and helped Pratt answer questions on the state of the industry and where it’s heading next.
