"California Protects Artists"

Dear Member,

Thanks in part to the support of our California members, two SAG-AFTRA-supported bills, AB 1836 and AB 2602, are headed for a Senate floor vote early next week. We need federal and state regulations to protect our living and deceased performers by placing guardrails around the use of their digital voices and likenesses. Please take action today!

Find your state senator here and tell them to vote YES on AB 1836 and AB 2602.

AB 1836 - This bill would prohibit the use of a deceased person’s voice or likeness in digital replicas without the prior consent of their estate.

AB 2602 - This bill would prohibit the enforcement of certain contractual provisions that allow for the use of a digital replica of an individual's voice or likeness in place of the individual's personal or professional services, unless the provision includes a reasonably specific description of the intended uses of the digital replica and the individual was represented by legal counsel or a labor union.

Your efforts are all part of the mosaic of protections performers need in the A.I. age. Please contact your state senator today!

Thank you.
