On June 5, the SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local Commercials Department hosted its very first advertising industry roundtable. The event, attended by local industry stakeholders, featured a discussion on the changing landscape of the advertising industry. It was led by Director of Commercial & Corporate/Educational Agreements Beth Haynes from Los Angeles and Director of Commercial & Corporate/Educational Agreements Tracy Hyman from New York. The discussion focused primarily on the growth of non-union commercial work, the success of recent SAG-AFTRA commercial waivers, and the transition from traditional broadcast platforms to internet and social media. Guests included representatives from the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, the ANA-4A’s Joint Policy Committee, Burrell Advertising, Carol H. Williams Advertising, Havas Worldwide, 4 Star Casting, Compass Casting, Gray Talent, Extreme Reach and The Team Companies. SAG-AFTRA Chicago was proud to be a host for this important discussion that will both inform and influence our 2019 Commercial Contract negotiations.
