Location: Boston, MA and Framingham, MA
Synopsis: A student-led film based on the life of Moana, a teenage girl who navigates through the foster care system and tumultuous family dynamics. The use of interviews and reenactments are used to bring Moana's story to life on screen.
Seeking Actors Able to Portray:
- Moana – Age range 14-17. Outgoing and ambitious, Moana struggles with mental health and trust issues as she navigates complex family dynamics. Entering the foster system reshapes her understanding of family and identity.
- Moana’s Aunt – Middle-aged traditional Haitian woman who values discipline and family. She takes in Moana after her stepmom moves away, but favoritism toward her granddaughter strains their relationship.
- Ms. T – The outspoken, kindhearted advisor of the Black Student Union who becomes Moana’s foster mom. She provides a safe space for Moana.
- Background Actors – Seeking 20 background actors for court scene (Boston) and school scene (Framingham). Will shoot on separate days.
