I hope this message finds you well. It is with both gratitude and bittersweet emotion that I announce the March 31 retirement of Melissa Goodman after 39 years of exceptional service to the Atlanta Local and to our union. Melissa’s dedication, leadership and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the growth and success of this local.
Since 1986, Melissa has been a steadfast advocate for our members, and she has served as the executive director of the Atlanta Local since 1992. Her contributions to the union and the entertainment industry in Georgia are immeasurable. From her work on Gov. Perdue’s Film, Video & Music Advisory Commission to her leadership with the Georgia Production Partnership and Women in Film & Television Atlanta, Melissa has left an indelible mark on our community. We are deeply grateful for her tireless efforts on behalf of our members, and we wish her the very best as she embarks on this well-deserved chapter of her life.
At the same time, I am pleased to announce that Alison D. Wise will be stepping into the role of executive director. Alison brings 30 years of experience working with SAG-AFTRA, including serving as the assistant executive director for 22 years. She most recently served as senior manager of contracts and member services and is well-versed in the needs and priorities of our members. Alison is passionate about advocating for performers’ rights and has long been a trusted partner to performers, producers, agents and other labor unions. We are confident that she will continue the work Melissa began and ensure that our local remains strong and vibrant.
We are grateful to both Melissa and Alison for their unwavering commitment to our members and to the continued growth of SAG-AFTRA in the Atlanta area. Please join me in thanking Melissa for her incredible legacy and in welcoming Alison to her new role..
Eric Goins
