August Is Actors Month at the Hawaii Local

The Business of Acting

Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024 – 10 a.m. to noon HT

This event will be held in person at the Tenney Theatre, 229 Queen Emma Square, Honolulu.

A panel of industry professionals will discuss the current landscape for performers and share tips and tools to help you succeed in the business of acting.

We look forward to hearing casting director Rachel Whitley, manager Aubry Lee Glover and others share their insights.

These events will be held in person from  9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. HT at the Homer Maxey Center Conference Room, 521 Ala Moana Blvd., 2nd Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813. The Maui event will be at the Learning Center at University of Hawaii Maui College. 

Actors will meet to work on scenes and audition materials to hone their skills and prepare for future auditions.  Please bring your material to work on.

Telling Our Stories - Using the Microbudget Project and MicroPod Agreements for Content Creation and Storytelling

Aug. 28 - Noon–2 p.m. HT

This will be a hybrid Zoom/in-person (at the Hawaii Local office) event. Space at the local office is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. When registering, you will be given a Zoom link unless you email mericia.palmaelmore@sagaftra.org ASAP noting your preference to attend in person. You must receive CONFIRMATION from the Local office for in-person attendance. Please do not arrive at the office if you are not confirmed to attend in person.

Hawaii Stunt Performers Pau Hana Mixer

This event is only open to SAG-AFTRA members in good standing.
This event will be held in person at the Black Shamrock, 902 Nuuanu Ave., Honolulu, HI 96817. In addition to the Actors Month events listed on the website, we will host a stunt performers pau hana mixer on Thursday, Aug. 29, 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Black Shamrock. Pizza and pupus will be provided; attendees must purchase their own drinks.
