Study’s Findings to be Considered in 2008 Contract Negotiations

New York and Los Angeles (May 31, 2007) – Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the advertising industry’s ANA/AAAA Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations (JPC) today announced that Booz Allen Hamilton has been selected as the independent study consultant to examine alternative methods of performer compensation consistent with the understanding between the unions and the industry that the purpose of study is not to reduce the aggregate compensation historically paid to performers. The appointment of Booz Allen was jointly made by the unions and the JPC.

The study will examine performer compensation models for commercials appearing on television, radio, and the Internet, as well as the growing array of existing and yet-to-be-developed media. The findings will be considered by the performers’ unions and advertising industry in negotiating new Commercials Contracts when the current two-year extension agreement expires October 28, 2008.

An effort to identify productive solutions to changing industry business models in advance of the 2008 negotiations, the study is a collaborative endeavor by the unions and the JPC

Work on the study begins May 31 and is expected to be completed in 21 weeks.

Booz Allen Hamilton was selected from among nine leading consulting companies that responded to a request for proposal to conduct the study.
