Rick Rockne shares exciting events from January.

"Whew! What a rollercoaster we have been on for the last couple of months. The Nevada Branch held its annual All-Industry Holiday Mixer in December. Our Branch got six days of work on the huge production of Burt Wonderstone in mid-January. We then held our annual SAG Awards viewing party on the same weekend that the SAG and AFTRA national boards voted overwhelmingly to send a merger agreement to the membership to vote on. Interesting times, to say the least.

"I have been reading the documents SAG has provided us on the merger until my eyes start to cross, but so far I am not seeing any big problems for Nevada in the documents. I am very happy that we may be able to merge the pension and health plans, so my time working for AFTRA productions will count toward hitting the level for health insurance and vesting for pension.

"I would also to reach out and thank my events co-chair Bobbie Wolff and SAG Awards viewing party chair Chris Rogers for working with me to coordinate these Branch activities. Special thanks to Nevada Branch President Barbara Grant and the rest of the council for their support, and special, special, special thanks to members like Steve Lizotte, who is always there for us; Brian Grant; Vicky Curry; Audrei Karene; John Burnside; Trace Taylor; Bill Jackson; Glen Bass; and any others I’ve missed. See you on the set!"
