Dear Member,
SAG-AFTRA, alongside our partners in the Entertainment Union Coalition, has been working closely with lawmakers in Sacramento to strengthen and expand California’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program. Our shared goal is clear: bring more production home and create good, middle-class union jobs here in California.
We’re fighting to increase the program from $330 million to $750 million annually, while also modernizing it to ensure California remains competitive in attracting film and television productions.
Thanks to the leadership of Assemblymember Rick Zbur and Senator Ben Allen, we now have draft legislation — AB 1138 and SB 630 — that represents a significant step forward. But to get this over the finish line, we need your voice.
Over the next few weeks, these bills will be heard in key legislative committees. Your support can make a real difference in showing Sacramento that working performers — and all entertainment workers — are united in this effort.
👉 Here’s how you can help: We’ve created a simple way for you to send a letter of support through our Action Network. One letter will be automatically sent to all key lawmakers asking them to support AB 1138 and SB 630. You can also personalize your letter with your name, years as a SAG-AFTRA member and a short message to make your story heard.
Labor unity is our strength — and this moment requires all of us. Let’s stand together to bring production back to California and get our members back to work.
In solidarity,
SAG-AFTRA
