California Production Tax Incentive Program Extended

Dear Member,

We are extremely pleased to let you know that Governor Brown has just signed an extension of the California production tax incentive program through 2025. This is terrific news for all of us!

We sincerely thank Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon and Senator Holly Mitchell for their leadership on this effort in Sacramento. We also thank the California Production Alliance—particularly our great partners from fellow entertainment unions—who we’ve worked tirelessly alongside for months to get where we are. 

This extension is a strong testament to the success of the current program, which was set to expire in 2020, after being tripled in 2014 to $330M.  

I’m proud to say we’ve seen an increase in production in this state since 2014, and we are thrilled this trend is now secure to continue for five more years.  

This production tax credit program is of vital importance to keeping our members at work in California, and for this we are ever grateful.
