The 2023 Maryland General Assembly session is underway! There is an important bill hearing coming up on Thursday, February 9 at 1 p.m. in the House Ways and Means Committee. Delegate Melissa Wells has introduced House Bill 270 (HB270 Film Production Activity Tax Credit - Alterations) which will increase the annual amount of available tax credits to $25 million in fiscal year 2024 and then to $50 million in fiscal year 2025 and each year thereafter. We expect Delegate Wells to introduce amendments which will make this bill the same as Senate Bill 452 (SB452), introduced by Senator Melony Griffith thus creating a cross filed bill.

You can help! Please take a moment to write to Chair Vanessa Atterbeary and the members of the Ways and Means Committee. Tell them who you are, what you do, why the film industry is important to you and your livelihood, and offer your support of HB270. Also, be sure to thank them for their continued support of the film industry! Please be sure to send your letters by Thursday, February 9 at 1 p.m.

Finally, if you’d like to come to Annapolis to show your support in the hearing room, members of the Maryland entertainment industry will meet starting at 12:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Maryland House Office Building, 6 Bladen Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Thursday, Feb. 9
