The Austin Script2Screen team is now accepting cast submissions for a live reading of the feature-length screenplay Pound Cake by Scott Honea. The Script2Screen LIVE series provides professional actors to read unproduced film or TV scripts before an industry audience. Selected scripts are by professional writers and/or festival winners. They are rehearsed, directed and performed by union talent for one performance only. 

When: Sunday, June 2
Rehersal and live read will occur all in one day.

Seeking performers able to portray: 
Seeking 20 males and 10 females. Actors cast in parts with fewer than five lines may perform multiple roles.  Children may be played by adults due to casting difficulty. 

  • Pound Cake - LEAD male, early 40s, Caucasian, has a heart of gold and a curiosity that sometimes gets him into trouble
  • Nae Nae - LEAD female, early 20s, African American, Pound Cake's co-worker, sidekick, and unrequited love interest. She's 8 months pregnant
  • Keith - Supporting male, 20-40s, any race, Pound Cake's slacker co-worker
  • Gary - Supporting male, 40s Caucasian, Pound Cake's favorite customer, "Matt Damon" if he really let himself go, Boston accent
  • Fred - Supporting male, 60-70s, Caucasian, Pound Cake's father, a retired magician, sees potential in his son no matter what
  • Aileen - Supporting female, 60s-70s, Caucasian. Pound Cake's mother, roommate, arch nemesis
  • Steven - Supporting male, 30s, Caucasian, Pound Cake's younger and more successful brother
  • Det. Slinger - Supporting male, 40s, African American, one of two lead cops on a missing person's case
  • Det. Locknow - Supporting male, 30-40s, any race, bad cop to Slinger's good cop
  • Remy- Supporting male, 20s African American.  Nae Nae's boyfriend and the father of her baby
  • Laney - Supporting female, 30s-40s Caucasian. Gary's wife, a stripper and possibly a schemer
  • Monsoon - Supporting male, 30-40s, African-American. strip club bouncer, huge friendly guy
  • Cop 1 - male or female, 20s-40s any race
  • Cop 2 - male or female, 20-40s, any race
  • Pamela - female, 60-70s, Caucasian, Gary's heartbroken mother, desperate to see her son again
  • John - male, 60-70s, Caucasian, Gary's father, ex-military, angry about his son being gone
  • Crossfit Guy - male, 30s or 40s, very fit, any race, he can't figure out which sandwich he wants
  • Josh - male, teenager, any race, smart-mouthed teen who works at the water park
  • Patrick - male, 60-70s, any race, magician who offers a heartfelt eulogy
  • Preacher Don - male, 50-60s, any race, classic funeral preacher
  • Realtor Candy - female, 40s, any race, really wants to help sell a house
  • Mr. Lemons - male, 60-80s, any race, Pound Cake's neighbor
  • Stripper - female, 20-40s, any race, gets a little handsy with Pound Cake
  • Buffet Customer - male, any age, any race, just wants some food, not to have a conversation
  • 7/11 Customer - male or female, any age, any race
  • Whimsy - female, 30s, any race, Steven's wife. not a fan of Pound Cake or his antics
  • Hunter - male, 10-12 years old, Caucasian, Steven's son, jerky little kid just like his dad
  • Hudson - male, 4-5 years old, Caucasian, cute kid that likes "Uncle Pound Cake"
  • Meth Head - male, 20-30s, Caucasian, strung out druggy who thinks he's being funny
  • Detention Officer - male or female, any age, any race
  • Jed - male, 40s, any race, tow truck lot employee
  • Soccer Dad - male, 30-40s, any race 
  • Sandwich shop customer
