Project: Central Standard
Contract: SAG-AFTRA ULB Agreement
Location: Stephenville, TX
Shoot Dates: June 9-16

A young man longs to grow and move forward in Brooklyn, yet still finds himself cherishing, with a great deal of loyalty, his hometown Texas roots. He’s torn between these two worlds and the one man who holds the key for approval to both - his deceased father. Feeling the weight of southern shame and the pressures of idealistic New York success, Central Standard is a story of acceptance and the miles we’re willing to go to feel it.

Seeking performers able to portray:

  • Penny (Lead - 50-60s - Caucasian): Widow, mother of three, gracious, strong southern woman. She loves her family and shares a close, special bond with her only son. When push comes to shove Penny is no nonsense and not afraid to voice her opinion. (Lead - 50s/60s - Caucasian)
  • Doug (Lead - 50-60s - Caucasian): Tough, father of three. He and his only son have a very close and special bond. Doug is quiet but has an ornery side.
  • Michelle (Supporting - late 30s - Caucasian): The oldest of three, organized and practical, head cheerleader and homecoming queen. She wants a sensible successful life. She loves her younger brother, but cannot understand his interests or temper. Michelle is expecting her first child with her husband, Tyler.
  • Tyler (Supporting - late 30s - open ethnicity): Smart, successful, easy-going and agreeable. Tyler is expecting his first child with his wife, Michelle.
  • Amber (Lead - 20s - open ethnicity): She is the main character’s ex-girlfriend. She is a down-home southern girl, well liked. Amber is confident and sweet, but has a mean streak to her. She knows she can get what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it. Her spitfire attitude contradicts her pretty appearance.
  • Barrett (Lead - 20-30s - Caucasian/Hispanic): Life of the party. Country and rambunctious. The main character’s best friend. Newly engaged. Likes to have a good time. His small town charm is contagious and even when he’s being an idiot you can’t help but love the guy.
  • Mike (Lead - 50-60s - Caucasian): Country, arrogant. loud mouth and know-it-all. The type of guy who gets in a bar fight. He’s Barrett’s step-dad. He thinks he’s “one of the guys.”
  • Aunt Beverly (Supporting - 50-60s - Caucasian): Vivacious and country. She’s the main character’s aunt who is equally excited to her nephew as she is horrified when she sees his new appearance since being back in TX from NYC.
  • Kara (Supporting - 20s - Caucasian/Hispanic): Barrett’s fiancé. She is a stick of dynamite and still finds herself needing to whip her fiancé into shape.
  • Catherine (Lead - 20s - Caucasian): Former sorority girl. Teacher. Single mom. The youngest of three siblings. Cool and understanding. Catherine and her brother are very close. She has a young daughter, Claire (5-6 y/o) Catherine is recently divorced and has moved back in with her parents. Catherine finds herself confronting some of her own struggles when her brother returns home from NYC.
  • Shane (Supporting - 20s/30s - open ethnicity): Catherine’s ex-husband. Player. Guy’s guy. Cocky and competitive.
