Auditions: Frist round of auditions will be held in Austin. Callbacks held in Dallas. Specific dates have not been determined.

Synopsis: An inspiring multi-episode, multi-season original series about the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of the diverse, curious, broken, lost, everyday people who encountered Jesus of Nazareth and were never the same. Actors should watch the 1st episode of this series to understand the project a little better.

Seeking performers able to portray:

[OLDER MARY MOTHER] 44-46, Mediterranean, MENA (Middle Eastern North African), mixed ethnicity female. Mother of Jesus, loving, humble, kind, has a sense of humor and a generous spirit, loyal. She must constantly balance her desire to see her son safe and happy, with the knowledge that his life is about much more than that. LEAD/RECURRING

[THOMAS] 21-24, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity male. Thomas is a guy who likes the facts and overprepares. He is not a risk taker but when Thomas meets Jesus at a wedding, Thomas sees the proof that Jesus is no ordinary man. LEAD/SERIES REGULAR

[RUMA] 20-24, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity female. She is a vintner that works for Thomas. She is amused by him. He overprepares and overthinks, while she is more trusting and willing to take a risk. There is a slight attraction between the two of them, although neither are willing to admit. When Jesus asks Thomas to follow Him, it is Ruma's encouragement that helps Thomas take the leap of faith. LEAD/RECURRING

[TAMAR) 20-26, African, Black/African American, Ethiopian female. (This role will speak a little bit of Egyptian. Performer doesn't have to be fluent but must be generally good with learning languages and accents.) Tamar is a Black Egyptian woman who grew up in Ethiopia. She is kind, generous, passionate and loyal. While she is on the outskirts of Capemaum one day, she is met by Jesus and his followers. Tamar witnesses him heal a man in front of her very eyes. She is in disbelief at first, but then realizes she has met someone who is unlike any other. Her faith and belief in Jesus become all consuming. SUPPORTING/RECURRING

[PHOTINA] 32-38, Mediterranean. MENA, mixed ethnicity female. She is the wife of Nedim, who is significantly older than her. Their marriage is not one of love and affection. She has become his property and despite her many requests, he refuses to sign divorce papers. She is rejected by society because of her multiple divorces and hates the city. She is trapped by her past and is full of guilt - but then she meets Jesus. LEAD/ONE EPISODE

[YOUNG JESUS] 12, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity male. (Jonathan Roumie is playing the adult version, so there needs to be a resemblance). At 12 years old, Jesus is a complex young boy. He understands the calling on his life, to do his heavenly father's work, so that is what he is going to do. But at the same time. he is a kid who has to listen to his mother and be home in time for dinner. SUPPORTING

[ISABEL] 40-46, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity female. Isabel is the mother of Matthew. She is estranged from her son because he has brought shame upon the family. Deep down she is saddened by the break in their relationship but she and her husband, Matthew's father, truly believe that as a tax collector for the Roman government, Matthew uses the gifts and talents God gave him against his own people. SAMLL SUPPORTING/RECURRING

[ALPHEUS] 42-48, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity male. He is Isabel's husband and Matthew's father. He has shunned his son because Matthew has chosen to work as a tax collector for the Roman government. He is very protective of his wife and does not want her hurt by the actions of their son. He is surprised to learn that Matthew left his wicked life as a tax collector to follow Jesus. SMALL SUPPORTING/RECURRING

[STONE MASON] 35-45, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity male. He is a sturdily built man who seems out of place. He is guarded and cautious. He has to be. As he attempts to survive by selling his only possessions, the tools of his trade, his leprosy is discovered and the crowd around him becomes angry and hostile. When he finds Jesus, he begs for his help and for healing, which he receives. His life and his heart are forever changed. SUPPORTING.

[MOSES] 52-58, Mediterranean, MENA, mixed ethnicity male. Moses and the Hebrew people have been in the desert and many are dying and sick. The weight of the responsibility as their leader weighs heavy on him. SMALL SUPPORTING/ONE EPISODE

[ROMAN MESSENGER] local hire only, 20-25, Caucasian, European male. He is a loyal messenger in the service of the Roman government. With great energy and urgency, he informs Quintus that King Herod's envoy is approaching. ONE SCENE

[NEDIM] 70-75 but looks like he's in his 90s, male. Nedim is the very sick husband of Photina. He refuses to divorce Photina. who is living with another man. He views her as his possession, and he is not willing to give up that control over her. ONE SCENE

[GOLDA] 36-40, MENA, Mediterranean, mixed ethnicity female. She is the beautiful trophy wife of Abner. They are not thrilled that their daughter Sarah has decided to marry a man from a lower status and outward appearance mean everything to them. Golda is ready for The Real Housewives of Cana; arrogant and looks down on Yasmin and her family. SUPPORTING
