The 2019 Commercials Contracts are landmark agreements for a new era, introducing innovative and flexible upfront compensation models that specifically address the realities of the advertising industry while enhancing opportunities for actors to sustain a professional career.  

On May 9, the membership ratified the new agreement with a 97% approval rate. The Commercials Contracts cover an estimated $1 billion in annual earnings. 

Highlights of the new contract provisions include: 

•    New Upfront Use Packages to provide performers with substantial upfront payment, creating simple, flexible and predictable structures for employers.

•    Across-the-board wage increases of 6%. 

•    Increased funding to the health and retirement/pension plans, estimated at $22.2 million.

•    Protections against sexual harassment.

•    Coverage of stunt coordinators.

•    Outsized gains to group dancers.

•    Streamlined and improved renegotiation process for commercial agents.

•    Alternative compensation structure for the Audio Contract features improved session rates and radically simplified use fees that better position work opportunities. 

These new agreements became effective April 1, 2019, and will remain in force through March 31, 2022.
