PTEOE Webinar Provides Path for Calming Nerves in the Time of COVID

The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement hosted the virtual webinar Calming Your Nervous System During COVID-19 on Sept. 18. Executive Vice President Rebecca Damon hosted and introduced motivational speaker and empowerment coach Michelle Colt. Colt is the co-creator of two workshops that help participants learn more about themselves and build their sense of confidence, The Inside Game and How to Have Courage to Let Your Light Shine & Be Seen. She has also hosted previous conservatory seminars in Los Angeles and New York.

Colt discussed how the unique circumstances of COVID-19 are affecting individuals’ ability to deal with stress, anxiety and depression, and provided participants with techniques designed to calm the mind and body. She also answered questions submitted by participants on how they can find ways to cope with change.

“[Being] mean to yourself and mad at yourself … in any area of your life keeps you in a perpetual loop,” said Colt. “What breaks that and moves you into a sense of well-being is having empathy, love and compassion towards yourself.”
