SAG-AFTRA Dallas-Fort Worth Local members are invited to get involved with YOUR local union. Engaging in union service is a valuable tool for your career and now is the time to apply for positions on our local standing committees. Any active member paid-up and in good standing of the local who wishes to serve throughout the 2023-2025 term may apply. The deadline for application is April 10 at 5 p.m.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Local committees are listed below and interested members may apply for more  than one committee. Your letter of interest should include your name, committee preference(s) and a brief statement about your background and/or desire to serve. If you’re not sure about the particulars but would like to get involved, you can leave your committee preference blank. We will follow up to explain committee work and help you decide what might be a good fit. Please do not include your full resume and note that an application does not guarantee placement.

Each committee will have a minimum of three members and up to a maximum of 13 members. Our local covers a large area of north Texas as well as Arkansas and Oklahoma, so committees will meet remotely via Zoom to coordinate activities and increase engagement in our entire jurisdiction.

Please send your letter of interest to dallas@sagaftra.org by April 10 at 5 p.m. After reviewing and forming committees, we will contact you with more information and next steps. Please email us with any questions.

Dallas-Fort Worth Standing Committees:

  • GROUP II: Pre-Member Outreach – Help educate performers on the importance of the union and union contracts for growing the industry. Mentor the next generation on the ins and outs of the industry and present to students and other industry groups.
  • GROUP III: Industry Outreach – Trained teams of SAG-AFTRA performers coordinate networking opportunities with agents, casting directors, ad agencies and advertisers while working to organize work for members across the state. This team works to understand various contracts and the signatory process for potential employers.
  • Conservatory – The Conservatory Committee focuses on raising the level of professionalism in the AR/OK/TX region by offering educational and performance workshops to members virtually and in-person. Conservatory events are open to SAG-AFTRA Dallas-Fort Worth Local members only but the committee will have authority to recommend the DFW Local Board open individual events to some non-members and industry professionals. Houston-Austin Local members will also be given access to DFW Local events conducted virtually when appropriate.
  • SAG Awards Viewing Party – Plans the DFW Local’s annual SAG Awards Viewing Party for members and industry. Work with members to create a fun viewing party that typically includes a walk on the red carpet, trivia contests, food/beverages, prizes and more!
