Delegates and union leaders have arrived at the Sheraton Universal Hotel for the second biennial SAG-AFTRA National Convention, which runs through Sunday, October 4. A meeting of the National Board was held on Friday, followed by a welcome reception for all convention delegates.
Under the theme of Educate, Engage, Empower, the convention unites hundreds of member delegates from around the country to nominate and elect leadership and consider proposals vital to the future of the union. In addition, social events include a gala and presentation of the American Scene Awards tonight on the Warner Bros. lot, as well as a presentation of the George Heller Memorial Award that recognizes a member leader or staff for contributions and service to SAG-AFTRA.
