Local dancers need our support!
Dear Members,
We need your help supporting local dancers in their fight with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Dancers recently voted unanimously to organize with our sister union AGMA and were promptly terminated by DBDT leadership. DBDT then posted an audition notice for new dancers to be held on Aug. 17. In response, AGMA officially issued a Do Not Work Order.
The dedicated artists of DBDT have received an outpouring of support on social media and in news outlets, and the assistance received from the Dallas and Texas State Feds has been nothing short of inspirational. With their help, AGMA is hosting a rally tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 17, to stand in solidarity with the terminated dancers, to reiterate the demand that the auditions be cancelled and the dancers reinstated, and to inform the public about this injustice.
We’re asking all our SAG-AFTRA members and allies in the DFW area to come out and support our friends. Let's show them we are #SagAftraStrong in solidarity!
