The Directors Guild of America today released a statement by President Taylor Hackford:
“The DGA offers our sincere and wholehearted congratulations to our sister guilds SAG and AFTRA upon the successful conclusion of their historic merger vote.
“This decision has been a long time in the making. Both guilds labored for many years to achieve this merger, believing that a single combined union would be stronger, more unified and more capable of representing the needs of its members in a changing entertainment landscape. The memberships of both guilds have made clear through their vote today that they agree.
“We believe the merged guild will benefit not only actors but all who work in the entertainment community. We wish the leaders, members and staff of SAG and AFTRA a smooth and productive transition and the best of luck as the two guilds become one.”
