New technologies aren't just falling from the sky. They are emerging because the world’s largest corporations and Wall Street, buoyed by massive public investments, are betting big on the innovation economy. How will workers deal with this transformative moment? Through strong private and public sector unions, workers can come out of this innovation era with good union jobs, new skills, and a chance to share in the wealth and opportunity that new technologies create. This panel will give us a chance, through diverse voices, to review and discuss the issues around emergent technologies – from AI, algorithmic management and labor rights, to racial justice, automation, surveillance, ethics, data and how work is changing.
