The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund) is a national human services organization that helps address the specific needs of actors and other entertainment professionals — with a unique understanding of the challenges involved with a life in the arts and the knowledge of what it takes to thrive in an often-unpredictable industry.

In recognition of World AIDS Day, which was observed on Dec. 1, the Entertainment Community Fund shines a spotlight on its HIV Initiative.

While substantial medical advancements provide hope, HIV continues to have a significant impact on the lives of those affected.

Established to assist performing arts and entertainment professionals affected by the HIV epidemic, the Fund’s HIV Initiative is a safe space for individuals to turn to during challenging times. Whether you are currently living with HIV, newly diagnosed or caring for a loved one with HIV, the HIV Initiative provides compassionate support and help with managing long-term emotional, medical and financial needs.

Staffed with social workers experienced in providing help through the continuum of living with HIV, the Fund’s HIV Initiative gives individuals a place to turn for both counseling and a safe network providing individual and group support. Recognizing the need for consistent care, HIV Initiative social workers often work in a compassionate and reassuring role over many years of a person’s life.

In addition to direct support, the HIV Initiative can help those in need connect with resources within the community and coordinate services that contribute to a long-term plan.

The Entertainment Community Fund is committed to maintaining your privacy. The services of the HIV Initiative are confidential and available to all professionals working in performing arts and entertainment, including members of SAG-AFTRA, with eligibility for financial assistance determined through an application, interview and documentation of professional earnings.
