SAG-AFTRA is pleased to partner with Actors’ Equity, IATSE, SAG Foundation and The Actors Fund to provide the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to members.

Through the VITA program, our goal is to ensure that all individuals and families have the opportunity to file their taxes—claiming all legitimate deductions, appropriate credits (including the Earned Income Tax Credit) and receiving their tax refunds, if applicable. There will be six days of free tax preparation sessions, starting in February.

Access to VITA is only available through The Actors Fund website. The link will open Tuesday, Feb. 3. At that time, you will go through the prompts, agree to the terms of working with VITA, request an appointment and obtain your VITA workbook packet. The workbook packet is available as a PDF file on the site. It must be completed BEFORE your appointment. 

If you earned $60,000 or less in 2014, you can file your federal and state taxes for free at www.MyFreeTaxes.org. If you earned over $60,000, there will be a sliding-scale fee based on your income.
