Casting director Margaret Doversola was truly a legend in Hawaii and Hollywood.

Aloha Hawaii Local Members,

We're sad to report that Margaret Doversola passed away on Friday, July 1. She was legendary in the local industry as a casting director on some of Hawaii's most illustrious television shows and films, and was always an advocate for local performers.

She started her career with the popular radio program, Hawaii Calls and was a secretary to the producer of the original Hawaii Five-O series. After she became Jack Lord's personal assistant, she began working as an assistant casting director for the original Magnum P.I. She eventually became the show's casting director and later went on to cast local commercials, films and TV series, including Jack and the Fatman, Baywatch, Lost, Pearl Harbor, George of the Jungle, ER, Mad Men and the Hawaii Five-0 reboot.

Any local artist who auditioned for her knew she'd tell them straight about their performance but would also fight for them and truly be in their corner. She also taught acting workshops and helped many local actors work their way into the industry.

She was truly a legend in Hawaii and Hollywood and an amazing, caring person. We wish her Aloha and thank her for leading the way in our local industry.

To honor her legacy and years of support to members, the Hawaii Local Board will be donating $100 dollars to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation in her name.
