Dear SAG-AFTRA Miami Local Members,

The next couple months are extremely important for our industry in terms of legislation in Tallahassee for the Florida Film & Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program.

The SAG-AFTRA Miami Local is partnering with Film Florida and other industry organizations and stakeholders to work very closely with legislators in both the House and Senate to add tax credit funding to the program and extend the window for the program to 2020. This is a critical year to show the Florida legislation that the film, entertainment, and digital media industry is in need of their support.

Many of you have asked how to help with the legislative effort. The following are two ways to get involved to get the support of Florida legislators for the incentives program. They need to understand that the incentives program affects the livelihood of all performers in Florida.

The first way to help just takes the daily click of a “button.”

Film Florida is launching a social media campaign on both Twitter and Facebook. Specifically on Twitter, we are asking for your help.

We’re asking you to spread this word through your mailing lists. The Film Florida Twitter feed will include many posts between now and the end of June. Specific legislative notes will include the hashtag #EntertainThis.

The contents of the tweets with #EntertainThis are particularly important because they will include specific messages that have been mapped out with the help of a legislative consultant. At times participants will also be tweeting directly to legislators, the more people who retweet these messages, the more each legislator understands how many people this program impacts.

Our hope is that you can share this message with your email lists lists to engage them to look for the messages and help this industry-wide campaign gain momentum as the legislative session approaches.

Follow @FilmFlorida on Twitter and Like Film Florida on Facebook, then please retweet and share all #EntertainThis messages!

The second way to help is to walk the halls of the Capitol Building for the Florida Film & Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program.

Join Film Florida in this effort to walk the halls of the Florida legislature and speak directly with the legislators who can support the pending legislation to replenish the Florida Film & Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program.

What: Rally in Tally for the Florida Film & Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program

Who: We need cast and crew from film, TV, digital and ancillary businesses to participate!

When: Travel Tuesday, Mar. 25 and return Wednesday, Mar. 26

Where: Capitol Building
Tallahassee, FL

How: Bus and hotel (double occupancy) will cost approximately $100
If we have enough participation, buses would leave from South Florida, Central Florida and the Tampa Bay region in the early evening of March 25 and return late on March 26. Hotels can be booked as double occupancy to cut down on cost to participate (share a room with a friend or co-worker!)

If you would like to attend but arrange your own travel and accommodations, we want to hear from you as well.

Deadline: We need attendee counts to reserve buses and hotel rooms. Please RSVP by Saturday, Feb. 15 if you interested in joining our efforts!
