It’s hard to believe 2020 started only 12 months ago. It has been a year full of challenges and, fortunately, many triumphs for our industry, our union and as individuals. We have lost too many members to coronavirus, however, with elections completed, employment opportunities improving and vaccines arriving, we end this year on an upward swing.

For those of you who have experienced hardship and loss this year, our hearts go out to you and we share in your grief.

The post-2020 world will invariably look different, and hopefully better, in both the way we work and the way we live. Regardless, we will manage it the way we always have: together. As the year winds down, we stand at the threshold of a new year filled with new possibilities. Vaccines are being distributed and production is slowly — and safely — resuming. Although we have a way to go, we can begin to envision an end to the disruption.

By observing common-sense safety precautions, many of us will be apart from friends and family during the holidays. With that, please know that you have the support of your union family. Continue to reach out to your fellow members, whether by phone, email or videoconference, and let them know you’re thinking of them. Our solidarity and support for each other has never been more important.

We wish you a safe and hopeful holiday season.

In unity,

Gabrielle Carteris
President

David White
National Executive Director
