Kerri Wood Einertson
SAG-AFTRA National Director, Government Affairs and Public Policy
The work and livelihoods of SAG-AFTRA members are greatly affected by legislation passed at the city, state and federal levels. As more members seek to become more involved with government and policy, there are several ways to do so through the union.
The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement’s livestream on July 19, Getting in on the Act(s): Legislative Advocacy, provided an introduction to understanding the union’s work in the political sphere. Joining SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Ben Whitehair during the session was SAG-AFTRA National Director, Government Affairs and Public Policy Kerri Wood Einertson.
As a national department within SAG-AFTRA, the Government Affairs and Public Policy, or GAPP, Department helps to manage the union’s ongoing partnerships with its sister unions and government leaders, and develop strategies to push forward legislation beneficial to members. In addition to detailing SAG-AFTRA’s recent efforts to further the passing of important legislative acts, Wood Einertson also talked about the union’s ongoing work to support policies that can bolster work and protections for members, including state production incentives and federal copyright laws.
The livestream concluded with a Q&A session.
