The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local Board held its first meeting of 2025 on Monday, Feb. 3.

The Local Board reviewed administrative matters and received reports, including:

President’s Report

L.A. Local President Jodi Long gave brief remarks highlighting the fire recovery efforts with which the Local has been involved. Within a month, a list of resources was curated for members, a mental health panel was held, a disaster relief town hall with government agencies was hosted, members volunteered to help support L.A. union families that were impacted, and a blood drive was held at SAG-AFTRA headquarters. All of this could not have been possible without the amazing support of member leaders and staff.

Long noted the Local will continue this engagement with upcoming events not only with members, but also with the community at large and industry unions.

Executive Director’s Report

Los Angeles Executive Director Serena Kung echoed Long's sentiments regarding the wildfire recovery efforts of the Local. Kung advised board members to encourage members in need to apply for available assistance and reach out to the L.A. Local staff if there are resources they can’t find.

Kung reviewed programming that would return in the coming months, including the highly anticipated SAG Awards viewing party in February and the first in-person new member welcome in March.

Committee Reports

L.A. Local committees presented their current programming, legislative efforts, overall engagement with the members and various other ongoing committee projects, many of which included wildfire recovery.
