The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local Board met during a hybrid meeting on Sept. 9 with in-person observers. This was the first board meeting with an in-person option since 2020.
The Local Board reviewed administrative and contract matters and received reports, including:
President’s Report
Los Angeles Local President Jodi Long spoke about various SAG-AFTRA legislative initiatives related to artificial intelligence that have taken place over the past year, including her visit to the state’s capital to address A.I. protections for deceased performers.
Executive Director’s Report
Los Angeles Local Executive Director Serena Kung gave brief remarks, including an update on committee meetings and events since the beginning of the year. Kung gave an update on the video game strike as well as other upcoming events and initiatives that L.A. Local Board members should be aware of.
Kung then welcomed Los Angeles Local Program Manager Brenda Cisneros to talk about the upcoming Conservatory Weekend Intensive, formerly the Summer Intensive.
Committee Reports
The Los Angeles Local Board received reports from Local committees as well as an update from Chief Broadcast Officer and National Broadcast Steering Committee staff liaison Mary Cavallaro in regards to A.I. in the broadcasting world. Additional committee highlights include upcoming events, educational opportunities and panels.
