The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local Health Care Safety Net Committee capped off National Blood Donor Month by hosting a blood drive to aid in wildfire relief efforts alongside Cedars Sinai at SAG-AFTRA Plaza on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. Members, staff and community members showed their support by either signing up for a time slot or joining as a walk-in donor.

Greeted by L.A. Local Health Care Safety Net Committee members, donors filled out paperwork, had a quick health screening and then headed to the donation tables. There, blood donors were able to watch movies that played throughout the day. The whole process took about 30 minutes, and by the end of the day, SAG-AFTRA was able to donate over 75 pints of blood — a feat not seen every day by Cedars Sinai!

Dave Keys from the Community Blood Program at Cedars Sinai expressed his gratitude for SAG-AFTRA’s support, saying, “Thank you everyone at SAG-AFTRA, all the volunteers, all the administration, the people here in the office building and especially all of the wonderful blood donors for coming out today. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for coming and donating blood today.”

This was a great way to close out the month, and the Health Care Safety Net Committee looks forward to hosting more health-related events for the Local soon!
