The L.A. Local Healthcare Safety Net Committee kicked off Mental Health Awareness month by joining other volunteers in supporting participating walkers at NAMIWalks 2024. This year marked the 20th anniversary of NAMIWalks, an annual walk and resource fair to raise awareness for mental health. The event was hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness’ Greater Los Angeles Chapter at the Los Angeles State Historic Park on May 4. Several Los Angeles-based organizations shared mental and physical health resources. Mayor Karen Bass gave a few words to kick off the event and honor May as Mental Health Awareness month.
