Quarantine life is not easy. Many of us are separated from loved ones. Many of us are anxious over the uncertainty of our industry. Many of us are missing the simple pleasures of going to the beach or taking a stroll at a local park. Through this difficult time, let’s make the best of where we are and let’s try to be there for each other.

There are so many ways to serve.
  • If you have some free time, call a fellow member that lives alone and may be feeling isolated.
  • The Motion Picture & Television Fund needs volunteers to serve our senior community. Check out the L.A. First Vice President’s video supporting the program.
  • The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor has all kinds of different opportunities to serve our larger labor community. Sign up on their site for volunteer opportunities.
  • The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is also looking for volunteers for all kinds of different support. Check out their site for more details.
  • Consider creating content that keeps our members engaged and learning during this time, like the podcast Audrey Helps Actors, in addition to resources I shared in my last email message to you. Email newmedia@sagaftra.org to find out how to make your project SAG-AFTRA signatory.
  • Spread the word to help support the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund that is dedicated solely to our members. Support the web series Quarantine that was created to fundraise for the program.
Know that there are resources available to our members. Our staff has been working hard to maintain a useful COVID-19 resource list. Click here for the general resources page. Click here for resources specific to California and SoCal counties. You will find financial assistance programs, relief funds, utility assistance, free entertainment and mental health resources. Check back often as updates are made frequently. If you come across a resource that you don’t see on our list, please share it with us at la@sagaftra.org

You are all in my thoughts as we get through this challenging time together. Your L.A. Local board is anxious to find creative ways to continue to serve our L.A. members. Stay tuned!

Keeping the members first,

Pat Richardson
