SAG-AFTRA’s Women’s Committee Chair L. Scott Caldwell and Vice Chair Patrika Darbo held an open committee meeting on Jan. 21 to allow members to address issues faced by women working in the entertainment industry. The meeting was an opportunity to determine how SAG-AFTRA members could contribute to better work opportunities for women in entertainment.

Attendees presented ideas such as implementing craft-based programs to enhance the career trajectory of women, a mentorship program between veteran actors and beginners, and empowering women to create their own projects. Interested members can get involved by joining subcommittees of the women’s committee that will work to carry out these initiatives. The women’s committee will present ideas and suggestions from the discussion at the upcoming W&W meetings.
