Over the weekend, it was reported that House Democrats have removed the capital gains tax as part of their budget proposal and in return asked Senate Republicans to close tax preferences to help close the budget shortfall. You can find more details here. With these significant movements happening over the weekend, there is renewed hope that the legislature can finish negotiating the final budget this week.
In our ongoing effort to influence the final outcome, Washington Filmworks will issue three calls to action this week. The Scenes from the Set: Z Nation in Action video launched this week, and you can find more info about this advocacy effort on our blog, as well as pasted below. Please take a moment to circulate this information to your friends, family and colleagues.
Thank you for your continued support.
Scenes from the Set – Z Nation in Action
Check out this video from the set of season two of Z Nation that stars Washington state cast and crew.
Send a link of the video to the legislators listed below so that they can see first-hand how the incentive creates meaningful and important jobs for our local film professionals.
When writing to these elected officials, tell them who you are, what you do in the film industry and why you think film is important in Washington state. Also consider including some of these facts and figures:
- Z Nation is one of 101 projects that Washington Filmworks has financially supported through the production incentive program.
- The production incentive program has created 14,000 jobs for local cast and crew.
- Ours is the only incentive program in the country that requires productions to pay for health and retirement benefits.
Please send to the legislators below and ask them to include SB 6027 in the final budget.
