Last week Beasley Broadcast Group, an out-of-state company, announced lay-offs across their stations, including at two union stations here in Philadelphia: WXTU and WMMR. Their goal of boosting stock prices came at a cost to their loyal listeners.

Two of our members were laid off, each of whom at least have the benefit of union notice, severance and health insurance, in addition to other protections.

This email is to call your attention to the outrageous decision to eliminate the live overnight shift at WMMR, ending over 50 years of live and local radio at this beloved Philadelphia station. We can't let this stand. The unit would appreciate any positive support you can give on social media. If you want to hear LIVE Philadelphians around the clock, tell @BeasleyMedia to respect Philadelphia and bring LIVE & LOCAL back to @933WMMR.
