Dear Member,
Reports say that this autumn will have some of the most vibrant foliage on record, beginning in the next few weeks. I’m looking forward to seeing it. Hooray to our SAG-AFTRA negotiating team, who is back at the table with the AMPTP with our own Local vice president, Tom Kemp, helping lead the way. We send them our support. Solidarity forever!
Thank you so much for all of your ongoing solidarity during the SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike. Every action helps, whether you attend a rally, march or photo op in-person; volunteer as a strike captain; contribute ideas in Zoom meetings; post on social media platforms; share information about upcoming strike activities; spread the word through conversations with friends, family, neighbors and colleagues; or simply wear your SAG-AFTRA shirt to the grocery store to remind the public of our goals.
We have had so many amazing strike events in New England and have made it to most of the corners of the local. To all of you that attended these events: Thank you! It is important for us to continue to show that New England is #SagAftraStrong. Please continue to keep up to date with strike news and events at sagaftrastrike.org.
’Tis the season to get involved in various SAG-AFTRA activities. Elected delegates for the 2023 SAG-AFTRA National Convention are busy studying resolutions submitted by various locals across the country - including our own. Resolutions are one way that delegates can suggest changes in union policies or make statements that are important to members.
Our newly elected New England Local Board had its first board meeting last month. It was wonderful to see everyone enthusiastically working together. In addition to elected office, there are a variety of other ways members can serve the union, including on a local or national committee. Committee service is a great way to lend your talents, experience and knowledge to the union and its members. In the coming weeks, you will be receiving information about local committee service opportunities. Please be on the lookout for this important email containing the online request form. Review the committee options and submit your name for consideration. Appointments are for two-year terms. Remember, if you are currently serving on a national or local committee - and would like to be considered for service again, you will need to complete the online request form to continue serving.
Thank you for making SAG-AFTRA Strong,
Andrea Lyman
SAG-AFTRA New England Local President
