Congratulations on ratifying the new Network Television Code. This contract sees specific gains for promo announcers, stand-ins, singers, dancers, and includes gains for all who work under it. I encourage you to watch tomorrow’s President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement (PTEOE) live stream What’s New in the Network Television Code: Wages for a quick rundown of how this new contract means more money in our members’ pockets.
I am proud to report that New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature are taking action to ensure rights to reproductive health are codified in the state’s constitution. Last week New York State passed a resolution to solidify the right to abortion access in the State Constitution.
Additionally, the New York State Department of Labor will update its nation-leading sexual harassment prevention policy. This policy requires review every four years, and this year New Yorkers are invited to provide input to further clarify and strengthen protections. Now through September 20, 2022, New Yorkers can submit feedback through this secure form.
Finally, I want to welcome those of you who are new to our union. For our new members and those existing members who may want a refresher, this Friday, July 15 at 1 p.m. the MORE Committee is hosting a virtual NY Local Member Orientation. RSVP today to learn about how your union works for you, and how to make the most of your SAG-AFTRA membership.
Forward together,
Ezra Knight
New York Local President
