Your nation needs you. Against a background of upheaval that has affected all of our lives, we are rapidly approaching what may well be the most consequential election of our lifetimes. And the outcome is up to you.

This Tuesday, Sept. 22, is National Voter Registration Day. If you're not yet registered for the Nov. 3 election, please take a moment to visit vote.org to find out how to register in your state. Also, be sure you know the process for voting in your area, whether you plan to vote in person or by mail.

At the local, state and national levels, your life — and the lives of your family, friends and neighbors — will be impacted by the candidates you elect. It’s a worthy investment to take a few minutes of your time to research the policies being advocated by candidates, as well as the details of any initiatives on your ballot. An educated voter is truly a powerful force.

And finally, please encourage your friends, family members and colleagues to register to vote. Our participation helps keep democracy strong, so let’s make sure we’re registered — and get out and vote. YOU have the power. Use it.

Strength in unity,

Gabrielle Carteris
