The following is being sent on behalf of the Louisiana Film & Entertainment Association (LFEA).

Legislation that could harm the film industry is scheduled for the House floor Tuesday and Wednesday.


How you can help?

  1. Contact House of Representatives - Send them a message on how these bills would significantly decrease the work in Louisiana. Click here to identify your legislators and send a message.
  2. Come to the Capitol - Plan to be at the capitol on Tuesday, May 5 & Wednesday, May 6 around 2 p.m. (check for official times on Monday, May 4). We will help you make contact with your local legislators.

Scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2015
HB 276 by Rep. Harris - Limits the amount of motion picture investor tax credit applications certified by the office each year (LFEA opposes this legislation)

HB 704 by Rep. Thierry - Establishes an annual cap on the amount of motion picture investor tax credits that can be certified annually (LFEA opposes this legislation)

Talking Points

Use the following TALKING POINTS to draft your personalized message to members of the House Ways and Means Committee. Tell your own story and use these talking points to make your message unique.

  • HB 276 and HB 704 will put me out of work. Save my job!
  • Support legislation that strengthens the film tax credit program.
  • These bills would hurt one of the most vibrant sectors of Louisiana’s economy.
  • The film industry creates over 30,000 jobs across the state of Louisiana.
  • The film industry generates billions of dollars of investment in the State of Louisiana.

We also ask that you contact their district (home) legislative office with calls and faxes.


What to Do When You Arrive at the Capitol

  • Plan to arrive at the capitol in the rotunda 
    • Tuesday, May 5, 2015 2 p.m. **times may change
    • Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. **times may change
  • Look for LFEA staff and volunteers. They will be wearing a LFEA name badge and will help to direct you to where you need to be. Be patient, but be there.
  • Get there early for better parking.
  • Go directly to the House Floor - it is important that you put in a request to talk to your legislator

Many people think, "someone else will do it."

We must all reach out and contact our legislators. You should send messages that tell your unique involvement in the industry and why you think the film industry is an important part of Louisiana's economy.

STOP whatever you are doing and SEND a message to the House of Representatives Members now. If you have already sent a message...SEND another one. Be cordial but firm. Ask them to VOTE NO to HB 276 and HB 704.
