A Little Blurb from Billy on the Salt Lake City SAG Awards Party

Dear Diary (and anyone reading my little blurb),

First I want to say thank you to the people at Brewvies Pub and Cinema in Salt Lake City, who were most gracious in allowing us to have our viewing party of the 24th Annual SAG Awards at their wonderful venue. We had a great turnout of members, pre-members, producers, directors, agents, casting directors, cinematographers, writers, their agents, and the agents’ managers, crew, and the crew assistants of the crew, friends of friends, their assistants, and the assistants’ personal assistants, and several new faces I was excited to meet. (Music playing me off to stage left. Crikey, you would think I was receiving an award or something.) 

We had a free raffle draw and gave away 40 gift bags and Brewvies gift certificates, and Dr. John's next door gave us a wonderful gift basket with lots of goodies in it.  

I was honored to meet Jim Platt, one of the original SAG members in the Utah Branch, and was able to catch up with Betty Carr, one of the previous board members of the Arizona-Utah Local.

At the end of the night, I almost forgot to get a members group photo, however I was able to round up several members to get in a group shot. Phew! (Whipping the sweat off my brow, gee I hope I did it right. Members holding cards in photo, check.)  

It was lovely to see several people dressed up, and also made me feel like I wasn’t the only person in the room with a monkey suit on. (Mental note: Remember to pull fingers out of the tie knot when putting on tie after the third or fourth try.)   

All in all, we had a wonderful “meet–n-greet” evening, watching the SAG Awards show, having great food and drinks and being with Mary. (I don't know anybody whose name was Mary, but I am sure someone out there is named Mary.) I am very much looking forward to seeing everybody again, and for those who couldn’t make it, see you at the March Utah membership meeting in Salt Lake City.

Now I am off to dreamland, thinking of another screenplay to write.
