San Francisco-Northern California Local Board members Ed Vasgersian and Micci Toliver, as well as business representatives Barrington Gore and Carolyn Dunbar, attended the San Francisco Labor Council pre-Labor Day breakfast on Sept. 1. Those in attendance heard energetic speeches and campaign updates from representatives from SEIU Local 1021, We Rise SF Labor Center for Immigrant Justice, California Labor Federation, NextGen, SF Building Trades Council, SEIU USWW, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, SF Labor Council Executive Director Tim Paulson and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, the keynote speaker. Many noted the proud and leading role the Bay Area labor movement plays in fighting for worker and immigrants’ rights. Attendees were encouraged to join in the Labor Day rally and celebrations in Oakland, which focused on the Fight For $15 campaign and the right of all workers to form a union.
