Nevada members and SAG-AFTRA Director, Background Actors Fatna Sallak-Williams participate in special background actors presentation and Q&A.

This past fall, the SAG-AFTRA Nevada Local offered members Background Actors 101: An Informational & Educational Review with SAG-AFTRA Director, Background Actors Fatna Sallak-Williams. The presentation took place immediately preceding the fall membership meeting and focused on the contractual rights of members working under the television and theatrical agreements. The event was well attended and Sallak-Williams covered topics such as on-set etiquette and filing claims. She also provided some great tips and tools on how to navigate the SAG-AFTRA website to locate show sheets, contract rates and more. A lively Q&A followed, allowing members the opportunity to have their questions answered by the head of the Background Department.

SAG-AFTRA Regional Outreach & Education Liaison Cynthia Williams was in Nevada April 26–28 to conduct two contract workshops, outlining the benefits of using the SAG-AFTRA Low Budget and New Media agreements and educating filmmakers on how to employ SAG-AFTRA members in their projects. The first presentation took place during the Las Vegas Black Film Festival and the second, a longer version of the presentation, was held at the Show Creators Studio and was free to the industry. Both events were well attended.
