In honor of Women’s History Month, San Francisco-based KRON-TV recently aired a segment paying homage to living broadcast legend Belva Davis. In a career spanning half a century, Davis was the first African American woman to become a reporter on the West Coast in 1966. In service to SAG-AFTRA, Davis has also served on the San Francisco Local AFTRA board and was a national leader of AFTRA from the 1980s through merger. In 2018, SAG-AFTRA awarded Davis the Howard Keel Award, the highest honor given by the SAG-AFTRA Committee of Locals for significant contributions to the union.
