NOTE: This is a THREE HOUR class that meets online. The class begins at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET

This three hour class is for SAG-AFTRA members interested in learning how to edit images using Photoshop Elements 2021. Specific lessons include importing and exporting files, resizing images, correcting exposure, color correction, removing blemishes, and the use of layers within Photoshop. 

Please Note: This class is not an introduction on how to use a computer, so basic computer skills are needed.  No exceptions.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of a Mac or PC
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021

SAG-AFTRA Foundation: Conversational Storytelling Through Commercial Structures with Hugh P. Klitzke

Even when their talents are being used to “sell soap,” actors must always understand the story they are telling. In this class industry veteran Hugh Klitzke will teach you to clearly recognize the storytelling devices commonly written into commercial copy. Understanding these devices will lead to  commercial reads that sound genuine, not-announcery and conversational. For anyone looking to improve their commercial reads this class is not to be missed!

REQUIREMENTS

Copy will be distributed the day of the event. Students are expected to familiarize themselves with the copy before class. This session will be part lecture and the instructor will work with a few volunteers. Not every attendee will read. Students are expected to stay for the duration of the session. Program begins at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET.

BIO

Hugh P. Klitzke is a voiceover coach, director and producer in New York City.  He teaches the conversational read, self-direction, the commercial read, and directs auditions.  For nearly fifteen years Hugh was the Voiceover Studio Manager at Buchwald, New York. To date, Hugh has directed over 125,000 auditions and counting.  Along with private coaching and teaching classes he is writing two books. One compiles the ideas he explored in his blog, the other is on the conversational read. His latest interview was on the podcast Voice Acting with Veronica Barrera. INSTRUCTOR BIO

Hillary Huber

After many years as a VO talent with hundreds of commercials and promos to her credit, Hillary shifted her acting focus to narration. She now has a flourishing audiobook career with over 600 titles recorded and is a multiple Audie Finalist, Earphone and SOVAS awards recipient. In addition to narrating, Hillary also directs audiobooks and coaches new narrators. She has a BA in English Literature and is a voracious reader and listener of audiobooks. Raised in conservative Connecticut and hippy Hawaii, Hillary now splits her time between Santa Monica and NY. Most of that time is spent in a small 4x4 cell… er booth.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation: Voiceover Audition Prep: Home Submission Animation Edition

Seated participants need to be prepared and equipped to complete an voiceover audition from home for this class. Turnaround will be fast, so be ready to put your best sounding recordings and performances forward and receive feedback, and coaching during the class.

REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to record, edit, label, save and submit a high quality (sound and performance) voiceover audition from your home. 
  • Depending on attendance numbers, this class may be divided into two (2) groups of participants with each group working separately with the instructor (1.5 hours per grouping).
  • Participants may be emailed questions about recording set ups and other related information
  • Participants must adhere to the audition submission procedures and deadline information.  Details will be emailed on Monday, July 12, 2021 by 2:30 p.m. (Pacific) / 5:30 p.m. (Eastern).  Submission deadlines are subject to change.
  • Participants must be present for the entire program.  Program begins at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET

SYNOPSIS

Do you have a plan for your money? Do you tell your money what to do or are your surprised at the end of the month by how it is spent? By creating a solid plan, audience members will have the steps to create a budget, get out of debt, build an emergency fund and begin to save for retirement. Participants will leave knowing that they can begin their path of financial freedom.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

Small Group Sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for 1.5 - 2 hours. SYNOPSIS

Headshots are an actors' calling card, but is it a professional picture that matches with how the buyers see you? Does your picture accurately communicate the product that is being sold? In this session we will discuss what your headshot is communicating and if that matches with what is coming into the audition room.

Please email copies of the headshots (MAX 2) that are submitted the most to thebusiness@sagaftra.foundation, by 7 p.m. the evening prior to the class. The class may not get through all headshots. 

If you have taken The Branding Workshop, please bring a typed copy of your branding sentence. It is not required that you take The Branding Workshop before you take this session.

This group is intended for everyone who does the challenging work of caring for a loved one who is an older adult (whether a partner, spouse, parent, friend or other family). This initiative gives voice to the caregiver in a supportive, confidential and safe space, as well as looking at the importance of self-care, including mind-body exercises, community, discussion and expression for replenishment and empowerment.
