The Actors Fund offers resources to dancers at every age and stage of their career.  Our national program enables dancers from all disciplines to define their own career possibilities and to develop the skills necessary to manage their careers within dance, and when needed, outside of dance.  

We help dancers:  

• To explore and expand employment, entrepreneurial & supplemental income streams to help them thrive at every stage of their dance career   
• To pursue training in a new field through Career Transition For Dancers (CTFD) scholarships for certification, undergraduate and/or graduate-level degree programs 
• To sustain mind/body wellness through mental health services, health insurance guidance and support groups for dancers   
• To cover the cost of basic living expenses during challenging times through COVID Relief grants

ENCORE is an ongoing, once-monthly process group—for entertainment industry professionals 65 and over—that offers a safe place to explore the challenges of growing older in "the business."  Our members form friendships, offer support, and together are building a community of vibrant, creative seniors.  The group is free, confidential and open to professionals in the performing arts and entertainment in California.

This group is intended for everyone who does the challenging work of caring for a loved one who is an older adult (whether a partner, spouse, parent, friend or other family). This initiative gives voice to the caregiver in a supportive, confidential and safe space, as well as looking at the importance of self-care, including mind-body exercises, community, discussion and expression for replenishment and empowerment.

Participants will learn simple strategies for tracking income and expenses in a way that makes sense for performing arts and entertainment industry professionals who don’t always earn and spend the same way each month, and be connected with resources and an action plan to take the next step.

Orientation is the first step to enrolling in the services of The Career Center. 

The Career Center addresses a central challenge for performing arts and entertainment professionals: navigating the episodic nature of work in the industry. For many, survival work—initiated to make ends meet—ends up draining the creative professional and becoming more of a problem than a solution. The Career Center’s Linkedin Suite for Entertainment program seeks to provide arts workers with the LinkedIn skills and knowledge needed to engage the platform in a meaningful way and will help you explore how to market yourself for the career paths you’re actively pursuing. While we encourage you to participate in all 4 parts of the LinkedIn series for an optimal experience; it is not required to participate in each part of the series.
