This group is intended for everyone who does the challenging work of caring for a loved one who is an older adult (whether a partner, spouse, parent, friend or other family). This initiative gives voice to the caregiver in a supportive, confidential and safe space, as well as looking at the importance of self-care, including mind-body exercises, community, discussion and expression for replenishment and empowerment.

SYNOPSIS

Time is a finite resource. If you do not plan how to best use your time, days, weeks, months or years could go by without you feeling like your goals have been achieved. In this small group session we will examine where you can adjust past habits to best use your time in relation to your acting pursuits. You will come out of this session with some techniques to budget your time more effectively.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

Small group sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for an hour and a half. Participants must stay for the whole time.

SYNOPSIS

There are many areas an actor can pursue within the entertainment industry. By taking the time to narrow down what an actor really wants to focus on it can free them up to deepen their pursuit of job opportunities. In this session, we will examine the different ways an actor can focus their career goals and discuss how one can create a system by which to effectively target the industry professionals within that area.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

Small group sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for 1.5 - 2 hours. SYNOPSIS

An actor was recently overheard saying that he just followed a couple of hundred people and will check back in 24 hours and unfollow anyone that did not follow him back. Unfortunately, this is common. Twitter is a conversation tool and, with any good conversation, the best thing to do first is listen and then engage. This session will cover using Twitter and reference Instagram and general tools and guidelines for dialogue, listening and learning while using Social Media. If you have never used Twitter or Instagram you are encouraged to look up some tutorials online before attending this session.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Presents: The Voiceover Lab Orientation From Los Angeles

VO Lab programs and sessions are open to all SAG-AFTRA (and AEA) members and VO Lab Eligible performers that meet the requirements, regardless of your location or the VO Lab program's city of origin. 

Once you have completed the required Voiceover Lab Application (online), you must complete the Voiceover Lab Orientation (VOLO) in order to begin using the Lab. This 2-hour VOLO covers Lab policies, aspects of sound, file formats, sample rates/bit depths, audio interfaces, microphones, voiceover recording and editing demonstration using Twisted Wave software.

REQUIREMENTS

Participation in VO Lab programs is open to union members in good standing, regardless of your geographical location or a program's city of origin.

Join Details are generally emailed to participants approx. 2-Hours (if not sooner) before the start time of the program.

Check-in time is currently 11:45 AM (Pacific) / 2:45 PM (Eastern), but is subject to change.  If check-in time changes, you will be notified by email and you will be required to respond to that email for confirmation.

Attendees must be present for the entire 2-hour program, which is from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (Pacific) / 3:00 PM - 5:00PM (Eastern) in order to receive VO Lab eligibility. 

Ability to log into the program with a camera equipped computer or other mobile/portable device with a camera. Program will take place using Zoom.  

Completed VO Lab Application.

Valid/Current SAG-AFTRA or AEA membership card.

Note taking materials (laptop, pens, pencils, paper) recommended.

This class is designed for members interested in developing and writing their own screenplay. During the first half of the class, members will learn the fundamentals of screenwriting, including development of new ideas, dramatic structure, and character development, among other concepts. During the second half, members will learn screenplay formatting by using various software options, including Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter. 

This class requires basic computer skills. No exceptions. No materials are required.

To participate, you must confirm the following:

  1. You can participate using a desktop computer (Mac or PC). No smartphones or tablets. 
  2. You have a reliable Internet connection (Wifi at home).
  3. You can successfully run this Zoom*/audio test - https://zoom.us/test

* Zoom is a web conferencing provider which the Foundation will be using for its remote programming. It may require you to install some software which should be seamless.

This three hour class is for SAG-AFTRA members interested in learning how to edit narrative projects (e.g. short film, web series) using iMovie. In this class you will learn all of the basics of how iMovie works by editing a short scene.

Please Note: This class is not an introduction on how to use a computer, so basic computer skills are required. No exceptions. 

Requirements:

- An Apple Macintosh computer (desktop or laptop) with a current version of iMovie installed (latest is 10.2.2)
- Desire and ability to learn to edit digital video footage using Apple iMovie.
