Join your fellow SAG-AFTRA members for the 2025 Washington-Mid Atlantic Local Virtual Membership Meeting. This is an excellent opportunity to stay informed about the latest news. During the meeting, you’ll have the chance to hear from elected representatives and staff, as well as ask any questions you may have

At 7:30 PM, we’ll be joined by special guest Brea Ellis, Union Service Representative at Union Privilege, the provider of Union Plus Benefits. This session will be a valuable opportunity to learn about the wide range of programs and services available to our community through Union Plus.

Brea Ellis has been a member of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) since 2010. She currently manages Union Privilege’s relationships with 22 International unions including SAG-AFTRA. Prior to working at Union Privilege, Brea was a communications staff member at the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 (ATU) which represents the 11,0000+ bus drivers, train operators, mechanics etc. in the Washington DC area. Her first union job was as an International Flight Attendant for a private airline organized by the Teamsters. She is a third-generation native of Washington, DC and currently resides in her hometown.

Washington-Mid Atlantic Mental Health Group Meeting- February

Please join the Washington-Mid Atlantic Mental Health Group in February's monthly group session to discuss the challenges that you might face in your personal and professional life. The group session is a safe space where you will have the opportunity to explore your emotions, gain insights, learn about yourself, and, if time permits, get caring, sympathetic and empathetic support from your peers. Active participation in a group session can encourage good mental health and be a great healing tool as you can help others as you help yourself.

Group will be moderated by SAG-AFTRA member Nicole Hakim Yohn. Nicole is a Peer  Recovery Specialist for depression and an experienced group moderator. She has  studied under Craig Hedley CPRS; renowned DBT expert Lane Pederson Psy. D. LP C DBT; EMDR under Megan Boardman LSCW, ACADC, CCT P-11, EMDR-C;  PHD expert in CBT Charles Jacob; DBT under Katelyn Baxter-Musser, MSWCBT, C DBT, C-EMDR, and trauma under international trauma expert Janina Fisher, PHD.

Navigating Low-Budget Agreements: Understanding the Micro Budget Project Agreement

Join us for an educational session on the SAG-AFTRA Micro Budget Project Agreement, a game-changing tool for low budget independent projects. This agreement is designed to streamline the signatory process for dramatic entertainment projects with a budget of $20,000 or less per picture or episode. During this session, you’ll have the chance to walk through the application process and understand the qualifications and agreement details, learn how to use this agreement to produce your own projects or flip non-union jobs into union work, and ask questions to learn how these tools can be used to enhance your career.

Whether you have a Micro Budget project that you want to create or there is a role you’ve been offered in a low budget project, this event will empower you with the knowledge to take the necessary steps forward

We hope you will join your fellow Washington Mid-Atlantic SAG-AFTRA members for a screening of the 31st Annual SAG Awards at Mustang Sally Brewing Company in Chantilly, Virginia. Doors open at 6:30 p.m, and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Attire is Awards festive/Casual to cocktail.

Admission is free for members. Additionally, members can bring one guest. A drink ticket will be provided to each attendee.

We will be holding a legislative reception starting at 6 p.m. at the Capital Ale House Music Hall (619 E. Main Street, Richmond, VA). This event will provide you a chance to connect with other members of the film industry and engage in meaningful conversation about the 2025 Virginia legislative agenda. You will also have the opportunity to meet lawmakers and share your stories about the need for film incentives. Hors d’ouervers and drinks will be provided.
