Your Los Angeles Local Committees have been busy in the last several months. Check out some of their highlights below:

L.A. Local Background Actors Committee

The Background Committee held a series of virtual and in-person casting director panels. The last panel was held in November with Alessi Hartigan Casting. The committee is currently working with staff on educational material for members, including contract bulletins and videos. The committee will also be hosting several more casting director panels along with mixers and a game night coming soon!

L.A. Local Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is excited to launch Los Angeles Local Committee Highlights. This will be a regular article that will allow members to learn how committees are working on their behalf throughout the year. Be sure to follow the Los Angeles Local Facebook page, where the committee strives to find creative ways to add contract and member education on L.A. Local social media platforms.

L.A. Local Conservatory Committee

The Los Angeles Conservatory held over 200 programming events last year, including bringing back the highly anticipated Intensive Weekend, and has already hosted over 50 events this year. It continues to host monthly Actors Evenings while staying committed to providing intimate communities through small classes and series-based workshops. L.A. Local Dancers Committee

The Dancers Committee was excited to be able to sponsor and attend the World Choreography Awards this past November. Following the fabulous event, the committee held a contract education workshop in December. Currently, the committee is working with staff on a handbook and several contract bulletins for members. The committee is also looking forward to welcoming L.A. Local dancer members to its next event on April 29!

L.A. Local Host Committee

The Host Committee welcomed members to SAG-AFTRA headquarters with festive cheer for the Holiday Open House in December. The committee followed the open house with its signature event in February, the SAG Awards viewing party and looks forward to hosting events later this year to engage the entire Los Angeles membership.

L.A. Local Health Care Safety Net Committee

In light of the Los Angeles County wildfires in January, the Health Care Safety Net Committee worked hard to provide a mental health panel and blood drive for those who were impacted. The committee is excited to continue its work with an upcoming mini-health fair as well as other events in the coming months.

L.A. Local MORE Committee

The MORE Committee is prioritizing membership engagement and education for the Los Angeles Local. In November, the committee held an episodic director’s panel with a follow-up with casting directors and associates in February. The committee also held its first table read of the year in February and first in-person orientation revamped as New Member Welcome: Navigating Your Union Membership in March. Character and niche workshops have also been held in the last few months. Continued work is being done in the realm of educating on self-tape guidelines and reporting as well as inter-union engagement.

L.A. Local Military Committee

The Military Committee held a panel for veterans in the fall and looks forward to holding another panel and mixer in the coming months.

L.A. Local New Technology Committee

The New Technology Committee has been engaging in discussions about A.I., new and emerging technology and the union, presenting several proposals geared toward the protection and advancement of the membership.

L.A. Local NextGen Performers Committee

The NextGen Performers Committee ended 2024 with its signature Halloween Mixer. The committee is excited to continue its engagement throughout the remainder of 2025 through panels, mixers and small group activities such as hiking.

L.A. Local Organizing Committee

The Organizing Committee has continued its support of labor actions throughout Los Angeles. The committee jumped into action with volunteer efforts for disaster relief after the wildfires and looks forward to Stamp Out Hunger, a food donation event with the letter carriers in May.

L.A. Local Radio Plays Committee

The Radio Plays Committee hosted its annual holiday program in December. The committee is currently working on its next show, which will be at the Autry Museum of the American West in June.

L.A. Local Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee

The Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee partnered with the National Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee to host a trauma and resilience workshop from the company Echo at SAG-AFTRA headquarters in February. The committee continues to find ways to educate members on reporting and resources.

L.A. Local Singers Committee

The Singers Committee is working to bring awareness on contractual information regarding its specific category throughout the entertainment industry.

L.A. Local Stand-In/Rehearsal Actors Committee

The Stand-In/Rehearsal Actors Committee has continued to work on ways to educate the membership and raise awareness for their community through the development of proposals for each new contract.
