Storyline:
Set in the ’70s in South Texas, a jailed convict is paroled and disguises himself as the father of three young kids, who are being raised by the eldest, 16-year-old Karina. “Luke” sets out to swindle the three children by stealing a hidden stolen treasure, but when the real father returns from jail to claim the prize, “Luke” instead finds the true meaning of hope, faith, and family.

Seeking performers able to portray:

KARINA - Female, Latina, lead, 16, prettiest of smiles, but robbed of her childhood as she takes care of her younger siblings. Very guarded and firm, but extremely likable. Able to stand toe-to-toe with “Luke” Special presence.

ARTURO - Male, Latino, lead, 10, Precocious, Loaded-with-charm, brother of Karina. Outgoing.
 
TREVA - Female, Latina, lead, 11, A bit more reserved than her brother, Arturo, but still as endearing. Plays the guitar, doesn’t have to be amazing at it.
 
NESTOR - Male, Caucasian, supporting role, name only, 60-70, fat, bald or balding, half-crippled with arthritis. Deviously manipulative. A career criminal with little conscience. A con man. 
 
ORTIZ - Male, Latino, supporting role, 42-50, Real father of the three children. Strong. Hardened man, whose soul is no longer there.
 
PASTOR - Male, Caucasian, supporting role, 30-40, Kind Man, but a true leader of his flock. Keeps an eye out for the three kids. Warm but not easily fooled. Country western singer only please; do not submit for this role otherwise.
 
HERR FREDRICKSBURG - Male, Caucasian supporting role, name only, 50- 60, owner of the town general story, German accent, white-haired, with beard and mustache, no-nonsense, but rough exterior belies a soft spot for the three children.
 
ESTELLA- Female, Latina, supporting role Late 30s –Early 40s, Deceased Mom of the three Ortiz children. Her spirit comes back to guide them. Loving, ethereal vibe, an optimist wanting to believe the best in her husband.
 
BUS DRIVER - Male, all ethnicities, supporting role, 40- 60, friendly, hard-working, soul. Something about him is just relatable. MUST have CDL license and/or be able to safely drive a Town Bus from the ’70s.
 
CHOIR MUSICIAN - Female, Caucasian or Latina, supporting role, 20-30, plays in several of the church scenes. Must play the piano well, or any other unique instruments that might be interesting for a small church in Texas during the ’70s.
 
Also looking for a local stunt coordinator with experience in staging a fight scene and a two-car chase scene.
